Twentieth tournament July 3 2004
To be able to make the unprecedented mark of playing 20 straight
tournaments the 20th tournament was scheduled in July so that Henrik could
participate one last time before returning to Sweden. The defending
champion could not participate as she was on training camp in Sweden. For
many players it seemed like the main goal was to avoid that Henrik would
end up as winner yet again. As I heard that this Henrik is a very humble
and kind person he of course let his manager Marutani-san win this time.
Rumors say that Marutani-san was intoxicated most of the round so he was
probably very surprised the day after when he woke up with the trophy in
his hand.
Yuka made her first par ever and won the nearest pin competition on the
same hole. One of our rookies this time, Anders Pentelius, made his debut
on a real course and made an impressive effort. Maybe his drive on hole 13
which measured roughly minus one meter was not so impressive but quite
amusing.

Nineteenth tournament
June 5 2004
The day before the Swedish National day 11 happy Swedes met a sunny day
close to Mount Fuji to play some golf. Once again the battle field was
Take1 and unlike last time (round 15) there were actually some players
that posted a really good score. All top three players posted a score
better than their official handicaps. The best player of the day was
Birgitta Kyhlstedt who managed to improve herself by 16 shots compared to
the last time. Now she will head back to Sweden over the summer and try to
defend her title when she returns in September.
The statistics and player presentations will come soon (we're running
out of disc space on this page so will see how to solve that).
As there is at least one player who can't wait until September to play
round 20 it will take place on July 3rd unfortunately without the
defending champion as she will be away for most (all?) of the summer.
Invitation and details will be sent out soon (much sooner than the updates
on this page).

Eighteenth
tournament May 15 2004
A bit faster update speed this time but maybe no one check this page
anyway? The 18th tournament was played at White Birch somewhere far away
in the mountains up north. Fortunately we did not tee up until after lunch
so there were plenty of time to go there. This was the first time we
played 18 holes without a lunch break (good concept which more golf
courses in Japan should introduce). There was a short coffee, noodles,
fishburger, sausage, beer etc break which was enough to destroy Mio's
until then almost perfect first nine holes (+2). After hitting her drive,
with a fish burger in one hand, in the water on the 10th hole it just went
downhill from there and she ended up with a, for her, terrible back nine
(+19). This was however enough since everyone else were knocked out after
the first nine holes.

Seventeenth
tournament April 3 2004
The webmaster has become lazier than ever and did not even manage to
display the results from the 17th round before the 18th. What is going on?
Anyway the 17th round was a huge success where a record of 16 eager
players gathered once again at Academia Hills. The best player this time
was Åke Jonsson.

Sixteenth
tournament November 24 2003
Hmmm the promised fast updates have for some reason not happened yet,
but now is at least the result available. The story and statistics will be
available after the webmaster has got a very nice Christmas in Sweden.
Anyway the lucky winner this time (it is a lottery isn't it?) was once
again Mio. She posted a net score of 62 on a chilly but nice autumn day on
our "home" course CPG. There were two rookies this time and they
will be presented along with other recent rookies next year.

Fifteenth tournament October 25 2003
Finally there has been some updates on this page. There
has at least been one guy logging into the page every day since the 25th
just to see that it was really true that he won. It is true Philip you did
win it and managed to get a final inscription before the trophy is handed
over to Henrik that has been lucky to win it 5 times. Philip was a little
bit surprised to win as he had not touched his clubs for a year and did
not really pay attention to his score as he normally does. Maybe this was
the winning formula? Anyway Philip was very happy and so was all other
players that received one of the very nice prizes arranged by the former
champion Mio (who by the way managed to grab a second place).
The statistics is updated but the player info is not
yet ready mainly due to the number of rookies lately. This page will be
updated faster after the next tournament (November 24th)
maybe.
On a beautiful autumn day TLBMWTS tournament returned to
Academia Hills CC for another
battle against this tricky course. This was the first tournament after the
handicaps were decided based on historical data and since many players
have played rather badly in the past the handicaps were increased heavily
for this round. As it is more fair to base the handicaps on past
performance rather than the previous bully-system it was decided that the
historical data shall decide the handicaps also in the future. However
some minor modifications:
1. The handicaps for players with less than 3 rounds will be decided
using the old voting system
2. Other players will be given the handicap by taking the average score
of the 3 latest rounds.
Henrik wins another one on a beautiful Saturday somewhere far far far
away from Tokyo. Markus was flying in from Sweden in a desperate measure to
avoid Henrik from winning. Markus has been practicing several hours every
day and also been on training camps all over Europe, but as so many stars
before him the swing doctors have completely ruined his swing and it was
hard to understand that he is a former champion. The competition was yet
again from Magnus but some weak holes on the back nine caused him to
settle for second for the third time in a row.
Henrik claims his fourth victory in this prestigious tournament and
everything is back to normal. The winner was the same old, Magnus bad
temper was back to normal and so was the weather. It was with delight Mio
and Henrik heard screams (censored) from the group behind consisting of
Martin and Magnus. We all know that Magnus is his own worst enemy so from
being five players that could claim the trophy many of us now thought that
we were only four left to fight for the little man.
We have all been waiting for Mio to claim her first victory and finally
she was able keep it together and win with one stroke. Magnus came in on
second place after being in the lead for most of the round. Since he had
his best score ever he did not complain too much. There were many
disappointed players that were waiting for Magnus to lose it and start
screaming, but we were waiting and waiting and waiting and no scream (very
disappointing). It is not the same now without Krook hitting his clubs in
the ground and Magnus that manage to be calm all 18 holes.
Once again Martin Olsson managed to keep things together and grab his
second win. This time he won despite slight hangover at
Tsukuba
Tokyu on March 29 2003. He was in the lead almost from start to finish
and manage to win even if he noted a combined of seven over par on the
last two holes.
The first tournament for the season was played on February 22nd at
Fuji Country Shibayama Golf Club.
This was the first time the TLBMWTS Invitational took place at this
course.
It was as expected a question of whether it would be Mrs or Mr Okubo
that would lift the trophy. In the end of the day
Shoko was the happy winner with a good net score of 75 despite the cold
weather and light rain. Hiroshi could easily claimed the victory if he had
kept his motivation throughout the round. He took the second place by
making a birdie 4 on the final hole. Mio struggled as usual and even
though she had a golden opportunity to make an eagle she putted as usual
so she ended up with a par (her only par for the round).
The first ever 36 hole - two day - TLBMWTS tournament
ends with an defiling victory for Markus Persson. Mackan led from start to
end and finished with a whopping 12 shot victory over Henrik! Martin
Olsson worked his way up to the third place after an overnight 5th place,
overtaking Mio and the reigning Champion Keita who finished 4th and 6th
respectively. The Krook family, Martin and Noriko finished 5th and 7th
respectively. The course was the freezing Suwa golf course in Nagano
prefecture.
Markus, Mio, Martin O, Noriko, Martin K and
Keita. The photographer Henrik was unable to join the picture
Keita Onishi pulls of a sensational win at the Yomiuri golf course
in Chiba! No one expected that Keita, who was only playing his third golf
round ever, would be in for the competition but he surely was! After being
in the lead at half time he extended his lead and the only challenge came
from Martin K who at the second last hole was equal but could not complete
the comeback.
Rickard Hardy claims his second win! In a very close
battle, Rickard walks out with the trophy for the second time by keeping
his cool in the hot weather. Rickard's handicap adjusted score ended at 81
and by that he beat the previous champion Martin Olsson by only one shot!
Magnus Svensson got his best finish by coming in at 3rd with a net score
of 86.
Rickard kisses the
trophy after his second LBMWTS tournament
win.
Martin Olsson emerges as
the victor in the 5th round of TLBMWTS tournament. No one can
mistake his happiness!
Martin Olsson grabs a historic victory!
Emerging from the "group of death" in a blaze of
glory, Martin Olsson grabs his first ever victory in the prestigious
TLBMWTS tournament as it was for the first time played on Academia Hills
Country Club! The newcomer Hiroshi and Shoko Okubo took the tournament
with storm and would have swept home the two top prizes if it wasn't for
the rookie rule, as it were they took up places 2 and 3 respectively.

special bronze shirt shows of his
prize!
The fourth tournament was fought among only 5 players
as early in the morning it looked to be yet another rainy day so Martin
Olsson and Mio decided to withdraw. Yet the rain never started so the
competition was played in good conditions. In the end Henrik once more
showed that he really has got the right nerves for playing a tournament of
this calibre as he pulled of his impressive third win! What looked like a
sure win was almost lost at the short 7th hole that was played as the 3rd
last today. There had a lousy 8 and both Fredholm and Martin K was in
serious contention again, but solid play over the two last holes secured
the win!
For the first time in the long (2 months) history of
TLBMWTS Invitational tournament the weather was terrible with initial
light rain that increased more and more and after lunch it was a steady
downpour. Henrik was delighted when he discovered in the morning that it
was raining. "I gain one or two strokes per hole when it is raining" was
what he told Mackan that morning. If this is true, Henrik would have lost
by many strokes if it wouldn't have been raining, now since that was not
the case, he did win!
The venue was the same as for first time; CPG in Chiba. This time 11
people were going to play but one competitor could not make it so 10
people started.
The day was somewhat overcast but the temperature was
about 15 degrees and not so windy. The first ball out was the girl ball
with the 'girl ace' Mio, the rookie Sawa and Noriko, they were followed by
the boy ball with Rickard 'old wooden clubs', Markus 'Mackan' and
Martin O and the last group was the man ball with the reigning champion
Henrik, Magnus, Marcus 'e-mail Kalle' and Martin K. Since the play was
quite slow due to what Mackan said "you have the amateurs in front and
Ballesteros behind" there was quite a lot of opportunities to see each
others plays. In the beginning Henrik commented that Mio was looking so
cheerful and was waving to the other players, later on after the half way
point he commented that she wasn't so cheerful anymore, more hanging with
her head - this was all to Henriks mischievous
delight.
The location was at CPG in Chiba. 12 people were
invited, but due to different reasons only 9 started.
These were the pairings
Ball
1:Noriko, Martin K,
Martin O
Ball 2:
Mio Henrik Rickard
Ball
3:Toshiyuki Peter Ronnie
Even though it was in the middle of the coldest month in Tokyo area it
was a nice sunny and rather warm day. It was a tough battle where Rickard
and Henrik who played the same ball battled all the way to the finish
line. In the end Henrik won and Rickard came in on a shared 3rd place.
Peter had an even finish and fought his way up to a second place. Ronnie
had the lowest round with 86 and that was sufficient to get him into a
shared 3rd place.
Scoring is
in the similar fashion as in F1. A win gives 10 points, 2nd place 8
points, 3rd place 6 points, 4th place 5 points, 5th place 4 points, 6th place 3 points, 7th place 2 points
and 8th place 1 point.
